My Father’s Day tribute.

My aunty told me that when I was younger, I really loved indomine noodles. She said that two people had to feed me at once because I would cry if there was no food in my dad, and my dad would inherently be one of them. As the ada of the house, I have always had my dad wrapped around my fingers.

In primary school, we wrote an assessment test, and I failed. I cried for what seemed like three days straight. I refused to eat anything, and I locked myself up in my room. When my dad came back, he called me to his room and told me the story of Abraham Lincoln and how many times he failed before he finally became president of the U.S. He told me about how he had to walk distances to get to his own school when he was younger, and how that inspired an old man in his village to give him a bicycle to go to school. It was from my father that I learnt that it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, but how you pick yourself up after.

I remember when I went to secondary school. Everybody was so sad because I was the first person leaving. Later on, my brother told me that he thinks that my dad was the saddest of them all.

From my dad I have learnt many virtues. I learnt to love and be kind to everyone that I come across. I learnt to work hard for everything without expecting life to hand me anything. I learnt to persevere and push through failure keeping in mind the overall picture. I learnt to put family first above all else. Most of all, I learnt to love God.

I know I don’t call you as often as I should, or gossip with you as much as I do with mummy, but I want you to know that I will always be your pathfinder, your adabekee. I love you so much daddy.

Joshua 1:9- “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
