Remembering People

I know its been long, abeg nobody should remove my head. I have been so busy with my summer research, and the days just keep flying by. I didn’t realize it was going to be a 9-5 kind of thing, but all the same, I am grateful for the opportunity that I have to be working on this amazing project with amazing people. Once I get back, I lie down to watch like one movie and the day is over. I keep questioning if it is the same 24 hours that other people have that I have. Mid last week, I realized that I haven’t reached out to all the people that I said that I would reach out to this summer, and it made me feel very sad. So, I have taken it upon myself to do the following things to make sure that I am not kicked out of the lives of those I care about.

  1. Call them: I am that person who will leave you three missed calls all in the name of checking up on you and saying hi. More and more people prefer texting, but calling is more personal. If you know there is someone you have been meaning to talk to, just call them. Unless they really don’t want to talk to you, they won’t put you off for a later time like with texts. A missed call is harder to unsee than a text message.
  2. Text them: I am not the biggest fan of texting, and I usually use it if calling has failed. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, just a hey/hi could spark a fascinating conversation.
  3. Like/comment on their post: This for me usually applies to instagram. If I put up a picture, and someone I haven’t spoken to likes or comments on it, it reminds me to go check up them. Even if I don’t reach out to them, I’ll lowkey stalk their social media to make sure that they are at least social media healthy.

This doesn’t just apply to your friends of old and your colleagues, sometimes it could even be your parents. My father doesn’t believe in social media, so the only way I can talk to him is if he calls me or if we email( so professional). I have to constantly remind myself to be on talking terms with the guy paying my school fees, and iss not good atall. He always jokes whenever I talk to him that I have gotten a new father to replace him. But he has a point, as it is my responsibility to keep in contact with him and update him the happenings in my life (not all of them sha).

Let me know what you all think about the suggestions, and what exactly is it that you do to stay in touch with your friends and loved ones.

2 Corinthians 6:18-“And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,” Says the Lord Almighty.
