My Favorite Black owned Restaurants in St. Louis

Hello my favorite people. Thank you so much for the support on my last post. If you haven’t seen it yet, please click here to learn more about my experience taking the MCAT during the Covid pandemic. During this lockdown, I have really missed going out to eat. My friend and I made it a thing to visit a new restaurant every two weeks. I know you may say, ‘but there is Ubereats or Postmates,’ but its not the same. So given all that is happening, Pandemic and Racial Injustice inclusive, I have decided to share with you all, some of my favorite black owned restaurants in St. Louis. This list is in no particular order. Please support them if you can

Cathy’s Kitchen

I started going here because it was close to my old work place. Hmm when I say the food is good, people I mean it. I can taste the love from the cooking honestly and I love the atmosphere. My favorite dishes there are the seafood poboy and the seafood mac and cheese. I also think their prices are affordable.

Krab Kingz on Delmar

I found out about this place on Valentine’s Day when my girls and I decided to go out for a Galentine’s dinner. This is where I got the seafood boil from my last post. The seafood tastes so good. I love that they have a wide array of platter options. There is something for every seafood lover at this place. Just be sure to have your coins cause their prices are steep.

African Palace

Of course there is no way African food would not feature in this list. So something I noticed about naija restaurants in the U.S is that they never have everything on their menu. African Palace is not like this. If it’s on their menu, they have it. The wait is a bit long, but the food is worth it. Go here ready to be rolled out because you will be stuffed.(I didn’t take this picture)

Sweet Art

For those of you who know, I am pescetarian so whenever I have a chance to try something meatless, I always grab it. Sweet Art is a vegan restaurant with the best burgers I’ve ever had. If you are newly vegan, oldly vegan lol, or just looking to try something new in the meatless world, Sweet Art is for you. This place is always full (pre-covid) so anticipate a wait. Turn

I went here for a brunch meeting with my co-workers. When I tell you their biscuits are to die for (Image in header). The ambience is amazing, and for a being in such a busy location, I found it easy to finding parking. If you are looking for a nice brunch place after this whole pandemic is over, try Turn.

Ok people, did I miss any place? Is there somewhere you think I should try out. Have you tried any of these places? Let me know in the comments. I look forward to hearing from all of you. Don’t forget to check out some of my other posts. Bye for now.
