Hello ndi nkem! Hope everyone is doing ok?
This pandemic, everyone has been complaining about how they are gaining weight. I’ve seen videos of people trying on their work clothes and realizing that it no longer fits them. Many of us have this idea that the only way we can workout and get fit is by going to the gym. Unfortunately, gyms have been closed this whole pandemic. Even if they open up, they are considered high risk for transmission of Covid, so I wouldn’t suggest it.
Personally, I have been able to loose some weight these few months through a combination of Intermittent fasting and at-home workouts. Here are some of the free ways you can also use to get your fitness game back on track:
Go for a walk/run
This one is a double hitter because you also get some sunshine. Being cooped inside this whole time, this has been one of my favorite ways of reenergizing myself. A good 30-60 minute walk would have you eager and ready to start your day right.

Dance party
This is an absolute favorite of mine. Some days, I just play some Igbo music and dance in my seating room. A 30 minute dance session has me burning nothing less than 200 calories.
Zoom workout with friends
This is something I know that multiple people did at the start of the stay at home orders. This is easy when friends are family are in similar time zones. Each person can take turns coming up with moves that everyone completes for a certain number of reps. Working out even online can give us that sense of community that we miss from our group fitness sessions at the gym.

Try a workout app
This is something I learnt about late last year. Many apps provide free timed workouts that you can do at home. They often don’t require any equipment and can be completed in a short amount of time. You can curate your own workout playlist to align with your fitness goals of the day. My favorite apps include Workout for Women app and Daily workout app.

Workout videos on youtube
This is the real deal for anyone looking to workout from home. Anytime of workout can be found here. I’ve used it for everything from cardio kickboxing to zumba. Some of my favorite channels are Popsugar Fitness and Fitness Blender.
So what did I miss? What are some other free ways you use to finesse your fitness and workout for free? I want to hear all about in the comments. Don’t forget to subscribe and be the first to read my posts. Till next time, Bye!
